Integrated traffic detection, video surveillance and user information system | A7 Milano – Serravalle Aesys

General Details
Client: A7 Milano Serravalle Motorway and Milan ring roads
Execution: June 2009 – September 2013
Cost of works: Euro 9,400,000 of which 1,040,000 for Euroimpianti.

Activities
Construction of a telecommunications system, developed using Giga Ethernet with fibre optic support, and creating a trunk ring using Cisco technology and local rings using Hirshmann technology, in order to limit problems arising from faults on equipment or interruption of transmission support.

The overall system covered the three Milan ring-roads (East, West, and North) and the section of the A7 motorway from Milan to Serravalle.

Euroimpianti also saw to creating software for the control centre, providing a system that integrates the information acquired from the various plants and supports the operator in the procedures to be applied in relation to traffic disturbance events, making it possible to control the devices used to inform users.

Remote control of motorway toll gates | A5 - SAV S.p.A.

Activities
SAV’s Motorway Remote Control System adopts a centralised control model that involves gathering, processing, and integrating information on the toll gate electricity distribution plants, at the operations centre.  The Supervision System gathers the information detected, processed and transmitted by the peripheral systems located on the motorway (Toll Gate PLC), on a centralised basis, and processes the information acquired in order to avoid critical situations for the operations centre operator or the technical department.  Via this interface the operator is able to view current and past information on the remote controlled plants.

The remote controlled toll gates include:
– Aosta Nord toll gate
– Aosta Sud toll gate
– Aosta barrier toll gate
– Nus toll gate and Nus maintenance centre
– Chatillon toll gate
– Verres toll gate

Activities
SALT’s Motorway Remote Control System adopts a centralised control model that involves gathering, processing, and integrating information on the toll gate electricity distribution plants, at the operations centre.  The Supervision System gather information detected, processed and transmitted by the peripheral systems located on the motorway, on a centralised basis –  16 Toll Gate PLCs and 25 Tunnel PLCs. It processes information acquired in order to avoid situations that are critical for the operations centre operator or the technical department.  Via this interface the operator is able to view current and past information on the remote controlled plants.

Activities
The tunnel was set up for operating drills by the fire brigades.
The area covered by the works is located in the Meysattaz suburb of the town of Saint Christophe at an altitude of 600 m above sea level, immediately after the municipal road that connects the centre of Saint Christophe to the Beauregard Hospital in Aosta, at the opening in the Sorreley-Meysattaz tunnel. The land to be affected by the works are indicated on sheet N° 37 of the land registry diagram for the town of Saint Christophe as lots 396 and 398, owned by the Client, S.A.V. S.p.A.

Works outside the tunnel
– Construction of a semi-basement space that will house the change rooms, ablution facilities, stores, technical rooms and electricity cabin.
– Construction of a prefabricated chalet for use as an office and meeting rooms
– Refurbishing the entrance to the tunnel
– Setting up special and remote control systems
– Setting up electrical systems
– Setting up mechanical plants

Works inside the tunnel
– Refurbishing the tunnel opening by laying a new surface and cladding the bases in reflective enamelled steel panels
– Construction of a 15 m long side duct inside, which will house the training laboratory with vehicle guards
– Forming of a recess at the end of the tunnel, which can be used by vehicles to turn around
– Creation of a filter zone and safe place to serve the Cote de Sorreley tunnel
– Setting up the fire-fighting plant
– Setting up the gas distribution plant
